George Clarke is a pioneering leader in environmental hygiene and sustainable cleaning innovation, with more than 15 years of experience advancing hygiene standards across healthcare, hospitality, education, and commercial environments. As the Founder and CEO of Chicago-based UMF Corporation, he has dedicated his career to elevating cleaning processes, reducing preventable healthcare-associated infections (pHAIs), and creating safer, more efficient environmental hygiene solutions.
Clarke’s work focuses on developing practical, science-driven methodologies that improve cleanliness while increasing productivity and reducing reliance on harmful chemicals. He led the development of the IT Hygiene Program®, Hygiene Specialist® Training, ABC’s of Housekeeping®, and the PerfectCLEAN® ONEperROOM color-coded methodology, all designed to deliver greater safety, higher satisfaction, and operational excellence for clients across industries.
A prolific innovator, Clarke holds more than 30 issued and pending patents for UMF’s high-performance micro-denier textiles under brands including PerfectCLEAN®, KLORESE®, PCIPAD®, and Micrillon®. His PerfectCLEAN Environmental Hygiene System — combining premium products with specialty process training — has been instrumental in reducing infection rates and supporting improved patient satisfaction scores in clinical settings.
Clarke is widely recognized for his commitment to quality of life through effective cleaning science and ergonomic solutions that protect people and environments from harmful exposures. His work continues to influence hygiene standards where health, safety, and performance are critical. Clarke holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto.
