Shelley Federico is a nationally recognized environmental health advocate and policy advisor whose work bridges medicine, environmental science, and federal accountability. She is the Co-Founder of the Purified Environments Provider Network, a national initiative dedicated to advancing medically informed, evidence-based standards for environmental assessment, remediation, and recovery—particularly for vulnerable populations such as military families, children, and individuals with complex or chronic illness.
Shelley’s work is grounded in both professional expertise and lived experience. She is the named plaintiff in Federico v. Lincoln Military Housing, a landmark federal case that brought national attention to systemic failures in privatized military housing and helped establish documented links between environmental exposure and neurological injury.
Through her advocacy, Shelley has collaborated closely with members of Congress, federal agencies, clinicians, and scientific experts to advance oversight, accountability, and reform related to military housing conditions, environmental health standards, and tenant protections. Her efforts have contributed to policy discussions connected to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and broader federal initiatives addressing environmental exposure and public health risk.
Previously, Shelley served as Associate Director of Military and Environmental Readiness for the National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors, where she helped bridge medical science, remediation practice, and policy development. Through her continued leadership and advisory work, she remains focused on translating complex science, lived experience, and policy into actionable standards of care that improve outcomes for patients, families, and communities.
