Good

The ERMI (Environmental Relative Moldiness Index) test is a dust based analysis that helps identify mold contamination inside a home. Instead of measuring what is floating in the air at a single moment, ERMI looks at settled dust, which provides a more stable picture of what has been present in the environment over time.

This test uses DNA based technology (qPCR) to measure specific mold species commonly found in water-damaged buildings. It is especially helpful for individuals with inflammatory conditions, including CIRS because it can detect hidden or low-level contamination that may not be visible.

ERMI testing is often used as a screening tool to better understand the overall mold burden in a home and to help guide next steps.

What You Will Receive in Your Kit

When you order through Lis Biotech, you will receive a simple collection kit with everything you need:

  • Swiffer-style cloth for dust collection
  • A labeled baggie to place your sample
  • Chain of Custody form to document your sample
  • Nitrile gloves for clean and safe handling

How It Works

You will collect a dust sample from indoor surfaces using the cloth provided. The sample is then placed in the baggie, documented on the Chain of Custody form, and returned to the lab for analysis.

Results will provide insight into the types and levels of mold present, helping guide your next steps toward a healthier home.

The ERMI (Environmental Relative Moldiness Index) test is a dust based analysis that helps identify mold contamination inside a home. Endotoxin Dust Testing

Endotoxin testing measures toxins from certain bacteria that can be found in indoor dust.

These toxins are often present in water-damaged environments and can contribute to inflammation and health symptoms. Like the ERMI, this test uses settled dust to give a more complete picture of your environment over time.

Actinomycetes (BacID) Dust Testing

BacID is utilized to assess the bacterial load within the indoor environment

It  is a Next-Generation Sequencing (16S rRNA) molecular test designed to identify and quantify bacterial communities in environmental samples. It specifically profiles bacteria in water-damaged buildings, with a focus on Actinobacteria and other human pathogens, providing detailed data on relative abundance and community diversity These bacteria can produce strong inflammatory responses in some individuals.

What Comes in Your Kit

When you order through Lis Biotech, you will receive:

  • Two Swiffer-style cloth to collect dust, one cloth for combined ERMI, Endotoxin and the other for BacID
  • Two baggies to hold your sample
  • A Chain of Custody form to complete
  • Nitrile gloves for clean handling

How It Works

  • You will wipe dust from indoor surfaces using the cloth provided
  • Place the cloth in the baggie
  • Fill out the form
  • Send the sample back to the lab

The lab will analyze your sample and provide results.  You can schedule with our home coach to help with interpretation.
